Highest-Capacity 3590
Refurbished IBM 3590-H11/3590-H1A 384-Track Tape Drive
The 3590-H Model tape drive is available in two styles: The single cartridge model is 3590-H1A. The 3590-H11 includes an Automatic Cartridge Facility (ACF). The 10 cartridge ACF allows the drive to be used as a mini-library with access up to 1.8TB of data.
Highlights
- A single cartridge replaces seventy-five 3490E tapes, six 3590B tapes, or 1.5 3590E cartridges.
- Reads 3590B, 3590E and 3590H tapes, preserving earlier investments; Writes only 3590H tapes.
- 10-cartridge random-access library with magazine for fast loading and unattended operation (3590-H11).
- Enterprise storage reliability exceeds all SDLT, LTO and 3490E based storage products.
- Multiple attachment options, including Fibre Channel, Ultra SCSI, ESCON, and FICON.
Transfer Data Faster
The 3590-H11/3590-H1A Tape Drive supports a sustained data transfer rate of 34 MB/sec (at 3:1 compression) using Ultra SCSI. The transfer rate doubles with Fibre Channel: Up to 70 MB/sec sustained data rate (with 256 KB blocksize and high compression). Native transfer rates are the same as the 3590 E models.
Process More Tapes
Process more tape applications and run tape-related workloads more quickly. In the event of loss or damage to files on disk storage, the performance of the 3590-H11 can speed up system recovery. Improved tape efficiency also enables the growth of new applications across the enterprise.
Store Up to 180GB Per Tape
A 3590H can store 60GB of uncompressed data on one 3590 Extended High Performance cartridge. At 3:1 compression, capacity doubles to 180GB. The capacity of the 3590-H11 is further increased by the addition of the Automatic Cartridge Facility (ACF), which allows an operator to mount ten cartridges at a time via a magazine. This is 34% more data than you can store using a 3590 Model E tape drive.

Make Fewer Mistakes
The 3590 Tape Drive is designed for much higher reliability than 3490E tape drives. The 3590 incorporates many features to improve its reliability such as an improved Error Correction Code (ECC) and servo tracks written on each tape cartridge to ensure accurate reading and writing. Media has also been designed to improve the reliability and archive life. In addition, each 3590 contains resident advanced diagnostics that monitor the operation of the drive and aid in fast resolution should a problem occur.
Reduce Downtime
Reliability is especially important for unattended system backup. The 3590's advanced identification of potential drive or media problems enables operators to avoid critical outages when they can least afford them. When problems do occur, better diagnostics make for quicker resolution.
Process Tapes Unattended
The 3590-H11 ACF has been expanded to accommodate up to 10 cartridges in a convenient magazine. An extra 11th position is also available for insertion of specific mounts if required. The ACF provides a cost-effective method of providing unattended operations for midrange or intermediate customers.
Step Up to 3590H
Need to dump your old 36-track, 3590B and 3590E tape drives to make room for your Comco 3590Hs? We'll give you a fair trade and arrange to pick them up, too.
