Quick, High-Capacity Solaris Data Transfer
Refurbished IBM 3590-E1A 256-Track Tape Drive
IBM 3590E1A Highlights
- Multiple attachment options, including Fibre Channel, Ultra SCSI, ESCON, and FICON.
- Large capacity cartridges reduce the number of cartridges required and tape mounts.
- 10-cartridge random-access library with magazine for quicker loading and unattended operation.
- Significant improvement in reliability.
- Available as stand-alone or rack-mount.
- Small footprint reduces floor space required.
Transfer Data Faster
The 3590-E1A Tape Drive has a 14 MB/second native data rate (with compression up to 40 MB/second sustained data rate with Fibre Channel).
Process More Tapes
Process more tape applications and run tape-related workloads more quickly. In the event of loss or damage to files on disk storage, the performance of the 3590-E1A can speed up system recovery. Improved tape efficiency also enables the growth of new applications across the enterprise.
Up to 40GB Per Tape
The 3590-E1A's cartridges have an uncompressed data capacity of 20 GB or 40 GB. The E1A uses a 4th generation magneto-resistive (MR) head, giving the drive the ability to write 256 tracks. This effectively doubles the amount of data that can be stored on a cartridge tape over the 3590-B11.
Make Fewer Mistakes
The 3590-E1A Tape Drive is designed for even higher reliability than 3490E tape drives. The 3590 incorporates many features to improve its reliability such as an improved Error Correction Code (ECC) and servo tracks written on each tape cartridge to ensure accurate reading and writing. Media has also been designed to improve the reliability and archive life. In addition, each 3590 contains resident advanced diagnostics that monitor the operation of the drive and aid in fast resolution should a problem occur.
Reduce Downtime
Reliability is especially important for unattended system backup. The 3590-E1A's advanced identification of potential drive or media problems enables operators to avoid critical outages when they can least afford them. When problems do occur, better diagnostics make for quicker resolution.
