7-Step Certification Process

1. Inspection & "Cherry Picking" - Only tapes that are free of physical damage make it to steps 2-7.
2. Label Removal & Cleaning - All labels and glue residue are stripped, and the body of the cartridge is thoroughly cleaned.
3. Write Testing - To ensure that all data has been removed from the tape, the entire length of the tape is overwritten with large random-bit blocks, and then securely erased. Soft and hard errors are recorded in a database.
4. Read Testing - A non-destructive read test gathers error stats and soft read errors are logged. One critical error, and a tape fails. Every tape is individually tested, so you know your back-ups will work flawlessly.
5. L&I (Label and Initialization) - If requested, your Comco Recertified tapes will be labeled and initialized.
6. Reformatting - If necessary, each tape is reformatted to ensure that they're recognized as blank tapes.
7. Packaging - Tapes are shrink-wrapped in groups of 10 and packaged in cartons of 30. Our boxes and packaging are identical to the original OEM packing materials, so you know they'll arrive in good-as-new condition.
