What is a Java Servlet?
"Servlets are generic extensions to Java-enabled servers. Their most common use is to extend Web servers, providing a very secure, portable, and easy-to-use replacement for CGI. A servlet is a dynamically loaded module that services requests from a Web server. It runs entirely inside the Java Virtual Machine. Because the servlet is running on the server side, it does not depend on browser compatibility."**

to use as a web server. Web developers should adhere to the following requirements:

2) Operating System
The OS or Operating System is the system in which AccuMail will be installed and run on. This system must be one of the following:
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
- Microsoft Windows 2000 , 2003
- Microsoft Windows 95/98 **
** While Windows 95/98 systems will run AccuMail Gold, it is not likely that any serious

3) Web Server
The 'Web Server' is the software package that will be running the customers website.
This software is responsible for responding to HTTP, ASP, JSP and other types of requests
that are made from client machines that are connected to the customers site through the
internet or intranet. The web server can be virtually any web server, however it should be
known that each web server has its advantages and disadvantages. Some common web
servers are:
- Microsoft Internet Information Server or IIS
- Allaire JRun
